Alexis Chism is a third-generation breeder, owner, and handler whose involvement in purebred dogs began at the age of seven. Working with the Basset Fauve de Bretagne, Alexis has finished multiple dogs and earned titles across conformation, obedience, rally, trick dog, and performance venues. As a breeder, she has produced dogs achieving advanced titles and national-level recognition.
Inspired by her breeding experience, Alexis hopes to pursue a career in veterinary medicine with a focus on canine reproduction. She has gained hands-on experience working in a veterinary clinic, assisting with surgeries and reproductive testing. Academically, she graduated high school Summa Cum Laude while earning her Associate in Arts degree and is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida, with plans to attend veterinary school at the University of Florida.
Alexis plans to use this award to further her education. The Basset Fauve de Bretagne Club of America is proud to recognize Alexis Chism as its first recipient of the BFdBCA Youth Award.
