BFdBCA Youth Award 2023

BfdBCA Youth Award 2022 winner holding large award check in front of some trees.

Lenore Hedemark is a 16-year-old homeschooled high school senior participating in the dual enrollment program at Wake Technical Community College. A few years ago, she launched a successful photography business, Just A Kid With A Lens, demonstrating both creativity and entrepreneurial drive at a young age.

Lenore currently ranks as the #3 top AKC Junior Handler, earning more than 50 Best Junior Handler victories—an impressive accomplishment that reflects her dedication and talent. She also qualified for and was invited to compete at Westminster, an honor earned through merit, and will return again in 2024 under the same qualifying criteria.

Not coming from a traditional dog show family, Lenore forged her own path with the support of generous mentors who entrusted her with dogs to show. Through apprenticing with a variety of handlers, she developed strong skills in conditioning, grooming, and presenting multiple breeds. Her work ethic and willingness to learn have set her apart.

Equally impressive is Lenore’s commitment to academic excellence. Balancing a demanding competition schedule with rigorous coursework, she aspires to pursue a bachelor’s degree in statistics while continuing to excel in dog sports.

Recognizing that young people are the future of the sport, the Basset Fauve de Bretagne Club of America looks forward to honoring more talented and driven youth in the years ahead.

Congratulations to Lenore Hedemark, recipient of the BFdBCA 2023 Youth Award!
