The BFdBCA Awards Committee is pleased to announce Aminata Von der Kalksburgerhoh, owned by Sabrina and Marcus Kohler, as the recipient of the BFdBCA Ambassador Award for 2024.
Aminata has been trained to find deceased boar and to stay with the body and alert to the find. She cannot touch the carcass at any time during the find. The Vet is then notified and takes samples for swine fever. What makes this so difficult a task, is the dog can only search for deceased boar and not chase any game that should cross their path while hunting. Very few dogs have become qualified to do this job in Austria.
Swine fever is having a detrimental impact on the boar population in Austria and this public service by Aminata and Sabrina is helping the Wildlife Game department with their data.
We are proud to present Aminata the Ambassador Award for 2024 in recognition of his service as he represents an accomplished Basset Fauve de Bretagne breed.
