The BFdBCA Awards Committee is excited to announce Allison Chism as the recipient of the 2024 Youth Award. Allison has shown exceptional dedication to the world of dogs from a young age. She is the only junior in AKC history to achieve both Best Junior and Reserve Best Junior with a Fauve, and she concluded a show year as the #1 Junior in the Miscellaneous group.
Her primary goal is to improve the Fauve breed, breeding with health, temperament, structure and soundness of mind. Her versatility is evident as she has consistently earned titles in various areas including show rings, obedience trials and companion events. Her success extends to German Wirehaired Pointers, where she excelled at seventeen to qualify for prestigious events like Westminster in both all-breed and Junior Showmanship competitions.
Allison recently graduated from high school, also earning her associate’s degree in biology. Allison plans to further her education, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus on animal science and behavior. She hopes to attend the University of Florida and ultimately become a veterinarian and specialize in canine ophthalmology.
Acknowledging that young individuals are the future of the sport; the club eagerly anticipates more nominations for similarly talented and ambitious youth in the years to come. Congratulations Allison!
